Boost Your Way Through Travel Crush
It wouldn’t be a match-3 game without ways to annihilate the tiles with powerful items. Power-ups and Boosters will give you the advantage that you need to wipe out a whole board of tiles and blockers. This guide will help you identify the patterns needed to craft Power-ups as well as other ways to find them and the Boosters that you can use while playing each level.
What are Power-ups?
Power-ups are items on the board that you can use to break tiles. You can either craft them by matching tiles in a special pattern or you can choose a Power-up to be randomly placed on an open spot of the board before the level starts. There are three types of Power-ups, and each has a different reaction when you activate them, and you can even combine 2 of them for even more tile crushing power!
Updated 1-2022
- Introducing a new Power-Up, the Propeller! See how it works and what happens when you combine it with another Power-up.
- Changes to the Bomb mechanics to allow for a smoother gameplay experience with the release of the Propeller.
Single Power-ups
Whether you craft these on the board or select it to be used before the level starts, these are the simplest form of Power-ups in Travel Crush.
Rocket
Also known as Line-Breakers, they do just that – break a line of tiles either vertically or horizontally. Whichever way the Rocket’s arrows are pointing is the line in which it will break tiles.
Crafting
Make a Rocket by matching 4 tiles in a row, up and down or side to side. A vertical line will make a left to right Rocket, while a horizontal line will make an up and down Rocket.
Bomb
Detonate a Bomb to clear tiles within 2 spaces from it (25 spaces in total).
Crafting
There are 2 ways to create a Bomb. One is to match 5 tiles in either a T-shape or an L-shape. Then the bomb is ready to set off an explosion like no other!
Bolt
The Power-up that is the most difficult to make is the best one to use. Swapping a Bolt with a colored tile will remove all tiles of the same color from the board. If these tiles are visible but covered with a blocker, it will break the blocker to help free that tile.
Crafting
Match 5 tiles in a row to create the coveted Bolt, both vertically and horizontally will work.
Propeller
Tap or swipe a Propeller, and it will destroy the 4 closest tiles and then soar to another spot on the board. They tend to hit level goals or Blockers, so they are extremely helpful!
Crafting
Make a Propeller by matching 4 (or 5) tiles in a square.
Making Magic
Not only can single Power-ups be activated by swapping with a tile or blocker, but they can be set off just by tapping on it! This is unlike many other match-3 games which require you to swap with a tile to activate it. This gives you a little more wiggle room deciding where you want to break tiles.
- TIP: Clicking on a Bolt instead of swapping with a color tile will result in all of the tiles of 1 random color being removed. This is useful when a Bolt gets stuck in a spot where it can’t be moved or swapped with another color.
- TIP #2: Move Bolts between movable blockers and it won’t get set off until you swap with a tile or tap on it. *CAUTION* This will cost you moves for every swap.
Combo Power-ups
Mixing 2 Power-ups will result in a spectacular display of tile-breaking. Whether it’s 2 different Power-ups or 2 of the same, it will be significantly stronger than activating a single Power-up.
Rocket and Rocket
Combining 2 Rockets will break tiles both vertically and horizontally starting from the tile where the swap was ended.
Bomb and Bomb
Match 2 Bombs to break a huge square of tiles 3 spaces out from the center of the blast radius, breaking tiles in 49 squares with this explosion.
Bolt and Bolt
The biggest tile-breaking combo combines two of the powerful Bolts. This will cause a mass explosion that hits every square on the board, breaking tiles and hitting obstacles in its way.
Rocket and Bomb
Mixing a Rocket and a Bomb will destroy three lines of tiles both horizontally and vertically with the midpoint being where the match was made.
Rocket and Bolt
Swap a Rocket and a Bolt and the Bolt will create a bunch of Rockets on various tiles on the board. Then they will all activate in random order destroying anything breakable in their path.
- TIP: This is the best combo to use to hit multiple parts of the board that is inaccessible by other means.
Bomb and Bolt
One match can make an explosion, and putting a Bomb and Bolt together will have a bomb-tastic display! The Bolt will send a lot of Bombs out on the board and they will detonate randomly to break anything that stands in its way.
Propeller and Propeller
Swipe two Propellers together and get a bonus! You will get 3 Propellers flying around to target the best tiles on the board!
Propeller and Rocket
Combine a Propeller with a Rocket, and they will swirl around until they reach their target, and then a Rocket will activate in that spot.
- HINT: The Rocket will shoot off in the same direction as the Rocket you had matched with.
Propeller and Bomb
Mix a Propeller with a Bomb, and they will spin to a tile on the board where the Bomb will explode!
Propeller and Bolt
Swipe a Bolt with a Propeller and watch as the most common color tile on the board is transformed into a Propeller and activated to target random tiles.
- TIP: The Propellers will not hit the nearest tiles when they activate.
More Boosters
Boosters are items you can use to enhance your gameplay in some way. Other than Power-ups, here are some additional ways to play better:
Infinite Lives
Just like what it says, it will give you Infinite Lives for a specified amount of time. Play to your heart’s content for as long as the boost lasts! Any +1 lives will be added on top and will apply when your Infinite boost expires.
Hammer
Use the Hammer while playing a level to break ANY tile or obstacle of your choice. The Hammer is located on the bottom of your screen during a level and there will be a number indicating how many you have in your inventory. Swing away!
SuperBoost
Use Power-ups while playing to fill up your SuperBoost bar, and when the storm erupts you can tap on the SuperBoost icon located on the bottom of the screen to destroy 12% of the tiles on the board. Use this when you need a little help with moving some tiles.
Bonus Boost?
Skunks can be found on some levels with footprints. While they are an obstacle, they do help you by shooting tiles and blockers to help you obtain your goal. Thank you, smelly one!
Other Places to Find Power-ups and Boosters
You can start a level with a Power-up randomly placed on the board. Pick 1 or more from the level start screen (or the Try Again screen if you just lost a level) and hit GO!
These will be helpful when replaying levels on Hard and Super Hard difficulty levels to get stars for restoring Wonders.
Gifts from Friends
In the Social menu, you can find friends in the Discover tab. This list will repopulate so you can have many friends to send gifts to. You can also ask them to give you gifts, which could have Power-ups, Boosters as well as other resources needed in Travel Crush.
Popcorn
Watch a short video before you tap on “GO” before any level starts and you’ll be rewarded with a free Power-up that’s placed randomly on the board at the beginning of the level.
Events
Participate in events to win Power-ups, Boosters, and many other rewards. Sometimes, using a Power-up will give you points towards the event, it’s a win-win situation!
Tournaments
